Read or not??

In my opinion, reading as a habit is a good approach that we must nurture in Malaysian society. There are several advantages when we make use of reading as a way of life.

First, we can attain as much general knowledge as possible. It is very important for every one of us to read as many knowledge base materials as possible to enhance and strengthen our mind. The more knowledge we possess the wiser we become especially when we are dealing with the difficulty to solve problems.

Second, we can be able to spend our leisure time throughout reading. Nowadays, people are not concern to use their time wisely. They are rather making use of their time by doing useless duty instead of reading. Thus, people who make use of reading as their habit will be not getting stress. Based on study by psychologist, reading can reduce stress efficiently.

Last but not least, reading can improve our ability to master in certain languages and develop speaking skills. Thus, at the same time, we can improve our writing skills when we were merely write a comment and our point of view about the materials that we read. In addition, there are several genres of books that we can read for instance genres of fiction, journalism, comics, novel and academic writing.

As a conclusion, people who fill up their life with reading will get excellent return through reading. Hence, as a Muslim, we must remember that the first message or ‘wahyu’ from God to Prophet Muhammad SAW is to command him to read.
